So you have finally decided to get rid of you vintage television set and replace it with a flat panel plasma hd TV? Well, you may have had enough of the bulkiness, poor picture quality or simply because you admire your neighbor’s flat plasma TV. However in spite of the decision making process being apparently simple and straight forward; in reality it is not so, especially when you are planning to spend quite a bit of your hard earned money. To start with, when you go to the shops you can’t ask for plasma and flat screen TV, at the same time. Though plasma television sets are also flat screen, in most cases flat screen TV is used to refer to a LCD television set. So it can never be said as plasma and flat screen TV, instead it should be plasma or LCD?

This is one of the main advantages of an LCD TV i.e. it consumes less power. Then again LCD sets are more preferable if you plan to set it up for computer usage; a flat panel plasma hd TV can also be used for computer applications, however setting it up is not easy and it is more prone to underperformances than an  LCS set.

Another important advantage of a flat panel plasma hd TV is that it is better able to deal with video lag issues. This is especially important if one is really into watching action movies and playing console games. In short the debate between plasma or LCD has a close analogy to the debate between a MAC or PC – So remember to weigh the pros and cons and choose what serves you the best.
